Team Lamb Chop Passes the 100,000 WU Mark!

A word of thanks goes out to each and every Team Lamb Chop Member. We would not have been able to pass this milestone without the efforts of all of you....From team member #1 to #1275 every WU you complete helps our entire TEAM.

A look at some Win9x add-ons
....I take a look at two SETI client addons called SETI Spy and SETIWatch. Each are good, but I believe SETIWatch is a better value (no wait.....both are FREE!). Take a look at each here.

Rat Bastard Answers his Critic (me :-)
.....An answer to my question on "what happened" to him yesterday, Rat lets us know about a current problem over at the SETI@Home offices.

Transfer credit to another account
This page is temporarily disabled.

A bug in the credit transfer program has been found, and we need to fix this before putting this facility back on line. We apologize for any inconvenience.

- The SETI@home team 9/28/99

That's what happened. All my systems at work are running under another account name, and I transfer all the goodies once or twice (or ten) times a day. However, I haven't been able to transfer since early yesterday, so I'm falling off right now. Don't work, I've still got work units building up in the background. I checked just a moment ago, and I have 20 work units completed and ready for transfer, but I can't do anything with them yet. Oh well...

Hot and Heavy Competition!
.....In the Top 20 there are two nice little races going on. Like Granny on a Sunday drive in the hammer lane on the Interstate, Tron is caught in a bunch of members trying to pass him on the right. ojohnson and AutoLign have knocked him down and put him behind the 8 ball, while moving up to #6 and #7 themselves. mjdewitt is tailgating, flashing his highbeams but Tron wont move over just yet.
.....Rat Bastard, the self appointed "antagonizer of Orlbamf and CES", when told to "put up or shut up!" cowered away and let OrlBamf and C. Eric Smith through. He slips down to the #14 spot while OrlBamf moves up to #12 and CES slides into the #13 slot.
.....Meanwhile, back at the ranch, adastra moves ahead of Justin to the #17 spot.

Possible Speed Tip?
.....While changing hard drives a couple of days ago I cleaned up my files and cleaned out alot of unnecessary registry keys (Win98) for software that i had uninstalled previously. My WU times have dropped about 30-40min from 10.4 hr down to 9.8 hrs. If you are knowledgeable and confident enuff to mess with the registry it may be worth the cleanup (for overall computer performance benefits also!). Also as a SETI/Community Service Announcement: run scandisk and defrag your hard drive regularly!
.....remember the less programs you have running in the background, the more CPU time the SETI client has available to it.
(Hint: Running SETI and playing Q3test doesnt help out your WU times!)

Info from your Friends over at SETI@Home

SERVER CONNECTION PROBLEMS: Our servers have become overloaded, and until we do a hardware upgrade connection failures will be common. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Team Lamb Chop Talk
If you want to discuss anything about the team or anything about SETI@Home in general....or even specific hop on over to the "unofficial" Team Lamb Chop thread in the Ars Technica Fourm. Take a look at it here. The thread is quite long, but it does have alot of info stuck here, there and everywhere if you are patient enuff to read through the whole thread :).

Team Lamb Chop/SETI Newssssssssssssssssssssssss
.....The Club team stats were not updated today (as of this posting). I got the data for today's update from the individual team pages, and should sort of be accurate....kinda.....I think.
.....Movin movin movin teams are movin and movin and groovin'. Team User Friendly passes FreeBSD and moves up into the #10 spot.............
.....
Takin' a chill. After posting more work units than all but 11 Team Lamb Chop members last week and BitchSlapping the hell out of Panders......SouthPark Admin Crew takes a little break today....not posting a work unit....
.....Things are heating up! There is a mad battle at the
12-14 spots. Rat Bastard, C. Eric Smith, and OrlBamf are neck and neck. I think that they are gathering up and planning to pop a cap in Caesar and the #11 spot.

Tips, Tips Tips....I work for tips
I've got the tips and tricks page up and going...I am not really sure just how in depth I am want to go into things there. Mostly because i really dont know anything about OS's other than WIn98. If there is anything interesting you think that should go there drop me an email.....you can get to the page here.

Team Lamb Chop Top 20 Moves
.....Rat Bastard Pulls back ahead of C. Eric Smith (to #12).....but they better watch out cuz OrlBamf is waiting in the wings to pounce
.....AutoLign passes over Beryllium for the #9 spot.

Top Club Team News
.....SETI.Germany leaps back over Linux and takes the #7 spot.
.....Weird things are going on with Team Art Bell. Yesterday they posted a whopping 5000+ work units for the day.....but today they lost WUs from yesterday. I think i read somewhere that Art Bell has some trickster who likes to join their team with a huge amount of work units and then leaves the team sometime thereafter......why? who knows....

Weekly Winners and Losers
.....I am adding a page that will contain the weekly movers and shakers from Team Lamb Chop. This page will contain a two graphs which #1 will show the team members who gained the most spots and lost the most spots over the past week....and #2 will show the top members and the number of work units they processed for the past week. You can find the graphs here.
